the traveler //
letterpress artist book

Starting with the prompt of "motion through narrative", I chose to depict minute movements and a mental journey rather than a physical one. By adding several cut-outs in a row, the pages begin to interact with one another as well as the world beyond them, echoing the connection between an observer and their environment. “sometimes, the world slows down. the people disappear, and the world seems to expand endlessly. but with a beat of my heart, the world flattens once again. but something is different. it feels as if i’d traveled thousands of miles without having ever left my seat. so i sip my coffee and watch as life goes by.” Made using Linoleum Relief and Metal Type; Printed with Vandercook No. 4 and Asbern ADR-1 presses
