room on fire //
album re-design

I was tasked with re-designing a record in the effort to make an ordinary object extraordinary. My mind instantly went to The Strokes, whose first three albums have a soft spot in my heart. I ended up choosing the album I was least familiar with: Room on Fire. My process began with listening through the record as many times as I could stand, picking out common subjects in the lyrics. I quickly found that time was one of the most frequently mentioned topics. Immediately, I set to work finding ways to deconstruct a clock or make it more visually interesting, when I remembered sometimes the most obvious solution is the best. Thus began the setup for the resulting fiery (then smoldering) photoshoot. Created in Adobe Photoshop
